What you need to know about MAIP in Edina MN

Car Insurance Edina MN

All producers writing automobile insurance in Minnesota are required to participate in the Minnesota Automobile Insurance Plan. (MAIP)

The purpose of MAIP is to provide Minnesota mandated auto insurance coverages to those who are unable to obtain them through ordinary means.  This includes but is not limited to individuals who have gaps in coverages, poor driving history, and poor credit history.

MAIP coverages include:

Liability: Min 30/60/10; Max 100/300/50

Personal Injury Protection is also offered as is UM/UIM and physical damage coverage (comprehensive and collision).

Applicants must show certification that they have been rejected for coverage within 60 days prior to applying for MAIP and have either a valid drivers license or be eligible to legally obtain one.

If you’ve been denied by a producer for automobile coverage through that producers insurance company, it is that producer’s duty to offer coverage through MAIP!

Note: Once eligible for traditional insurance, eligibility for MAIP terminates.
